Wilmington, DE Homes & Real Estate
Riverfront, rail, rowhomes and hospitals in northern Delaware.
Wilmington is Delaware’s largest city and sits in New Castle County where the Christina River and Brandywine Creek meet the Delaware River. It is the commercial center of northern Delaware, with banks, law firms, corporate offices and two major hospital campuses within the city and its close suburbs.
Getting around is straightforward for a city this size. I-95 and I-495 run along the edge of downtown, and Wilmington’s Amtrak station is also served by SEPTA regional rail, which makes the trip toward Philadelphia a train ride instead of a drive. Route 202 heads north toward the Pennsylvania line, and the Brandywine Hundred neighborhoods connect to downtown by Market Street, Concord Pike and Kirkwood Highway.
There is a lot to do close to home. Riverfront Wilmington has walking paths, restaurants and the Chase Center, and Brandywine Park and the Brandywine Zoo line the creek north of downtown. Rockford Park, the Delaware Art Museum and the Hagley Museum are all a short trip from most neighborhoods. Trolley Square, Union Street and Market Street have independent restaurants and shops, and larger stores are along Concord Pike.
Housing varies a lot from one part of the city to the next. You will find brick rowhomes and twins, older single-family homes on tree-lined streets, condominiums downtown and near the river, and ranch and split-level homes in the surrounding Brandywine Hundred area. Prices and conditions vary by block, so a current comparison of nearby sales is the best way to see what a specific home is worth. We can pull one for you.
Wilmington’s neighborhoods feel different from one another. Trolley Square and the streets near Brandywine Park have older brick homes close to restaurants, the Riverfront has newer apartments and condominiums by the water, and the northern edge of the city blends into Brandywine Hundred. Parking, lot size and the age of the home are the details that move value most from block to block, so ask us for recent sales on your own street rather than relying on a citywide number. We are happy to go through them with you.
