Salisbury is the largest city on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the county seat of Wicomico County. It sits on the Wicomico River at the crossroads of US-13 and US-50 and serves as the region’s center for healthcare, retail, higher education and business.

US-13 runs north toward Dover and south toward Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and US-50 heads east to Ocean City and west toward Cambridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The beaches at Ocean City and Delaware’s Rehoboth Beach are a drive to the east.

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, the main hospital on the lower Shore, and Perdue Farms, whose headquarters is in Salisbury, are among the area’s largest employers. Riverwalk Park and the Wicomico River give residents a place to walk downtown, and the Salisbury Zoo and the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art are also in the city. Shopping centers line Route 13 and Route 50.
