Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA Homes & Real Estate
Rowhomes, rail and riverfront in Pennsylvania’s largest city.
Philadelphia is Pennsylvania’s largest city and sits between the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers. It is made up of many distinct neighborhoods, from the high-rises and townhouses of Center City to the rowhome blocks of South Philadelphia and the stone houses of Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy.
Getting around does not require a car. SEPTA runs subways, trolleys, buses and regional rail, Amtrak’s 30th Street Station connects to Wilmington, New York and Washington, and Philadelphia International Airport is on the southwest edge. I-95, I-76, I-676 and Route 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) are the main highways, and several bridges cross the Delaware River to New Jersey.
There is a lot to do close to home. Fairmount Park and Wissahickon Valley Park are among the largest city parks in the country, the Schuylkill River Trail runs along the river, and the waterfront at Penn’s Landing and the Delaware River Trail give walkers views of the water. Reading Terminal Market, the Italian Market, Rittenhouse Square and the Philadelphia Museum of Art are all well known, and neighborhood shopping streets are throughout the city.
Housing varies widely, with brick rowhomes and twins, stone single-family homes, condominiums in older buildings and new towers, and converted warehouse lofts. Property taxes, transfer taxes and neighborhood details differ from block to block, so we compare each home with sales on nearby streets.
Buying or selling in the city has its own steps, such as the city’s transfer tax and certifications, and we walk you through them. If you are comparing Philadelphia with Delaware County or Wilmington, we can put a side-by-side together for you. A free home value is the quickest first step for sellers.
