Ocean City is a barrier-island resort town on Maryland’s Atlantic coast in Worcester County, about ten miles long and between the ocean and the bays. The Boardwalk runs for about three miles along the beach at the south end, and the area on the mainland side of the bridges, known as West Ocean City, has marinas, restaurants and shopping.

Route 50 (Ocean Gateway) is the main road from Salisbury and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the island, and Coastal Highway (Route 528) runs the length of it. Route 90 provides a second link to the mainland and Delaware’s beaches are a short drive north. Salisbury is the nearest large city and Ocean City Municipal Airport serves general aviation.

The beach, the Boardwalk and the inlet fishing pier are the town’s anchor. Assateague Island National Seashore, with its beaches and wild horses, is just south across the inlet, and the bays are a destination for fishing, boating and crabbing. Tanger Outlets and other shopping are on the mainland, and large events draw visitors through the warm months.

Housing is dominated by condominiums and townhomes, with single-family homes on the north end and in neighborhoods on the west side of the bay.
