Galena is a small town in northern Kent County, Maryland, on the Eastern Shore, a short distance from the Sassafras River. It has a compact historic center with older brick and frame homes, and the surrounding land is mostly farms, fields and small villages.

Route 213 is the main road, running north toward Cecilton and Chesapeake City and south toward Chestertown. Groceries and basic services are in and around Galena, with bigger stores in Chestertown, Elkton and Middletown.
